Luke said: "The last year has been the busiest year many of my members can remember. We've campaigning in every part of the constituency from Plympton and Plymstock to Ivybridge, Wembury and Woolwell. My job this year was to ensure that the party was reaching every part of the constituency I am hoping to represent, listening to local people and then running campaigns that matter to them."

Over the last year South West Devon Labour has campaigned on a great many issues raised by local people including:

  • Saving ITV Westcountry from closure
  • Stopping the Tories selling Chaddlewood Fields
  • Campaigning against more speed humps on Larkham Lane
  • Putting pressure on the Council over a washed away path in Woolcome Lane
  • Demanding a new Plympton Library - before and after the Library fire in Plympton
  • Asking where the Plymstock Pool is after twenty years of broken Tory promises
  • Supporting Coombe Dean School's wind turbine applications in Plymstock
  • Supporting our European Parliament Candidates in the run up to June 2009's poll
  • Standing local election candidates in Plympton and Plymstock in May 2008's City Council elections
  • Asking local people in the South Hams what they think about rural housing
  • Asked local people in Ivybridge about on street parking
  • Gave a voice to people in Chaddlewood who cannot park outside their own homes due to parking from a nearby industrial estate taking all the spaces
  • Supported the call for more awareness of HIV in the south west for World Aids Day
  • And much more...
