Where is the Plymstock Pool?

Pool? The people of Plymstock are being warned to expect more Tory plans for a swimming pool – twenty years after they first made this promise.

Luke Pollard said: “Twenty years ago the Tories first promised the people of Plymstock a swimming pool. Two decades on they are making the same promises and still making no effort to build one.”

In the recently published plan of Council expenditure for the next five years you would expect to see funding for a swimming pool if they were really going to build one but there’s no funding for a pool. In fact, there are not even any plans for a pool either despite assurances that there are from the Tories. In a recent leaflet from the Conservative Party, Cllr Vivien Pengelly, Leader of the Tory Council said: “As you are aware your councillors have been committed to the provision of a swimming pool for Plymstock. Negotiations are progressing well with a site within the Plymstock boundary and we are confident that this will provide a magnificent facility and one that has been a priority for many residents…for many years.”Luke Pollard said: “There is currently no funding set aside for a pool. Furthermore, the Tories have said that a pool for Plymstock could be built in Sherford, the same development they opposed when in Opposition and that the local MP has strongly opposed. How can the Tories be in favour of a pool in a development they oppose?”

Councillor Peter Smith, Labour's Leisure Spokesperson isn't surprised. "Plymstock people get this pool promised every time there's an election and every time the Tories fail to deliver" he said, "Whether it's the promise to halt the developments at Central Park. a swimming pool North of the city or a pool at Plymstock the Tories do the opposite to what they promise - they can't be trusted."

We do NOT need a pool in Plymstock - Get on the bus and travel 20 minutes into Plymouth where you are well served for pools. Any pool development will be of detriment to the already overbuilt areas of Plymstock. This is a vote LOSER - so do not propose it please.
