Labour says it is not too late to Save Citybus

14 September 2009

It is not too late to stop CityBus being sold says Cllr Tudor Evans, Leader of Plymouth's Labour Group.

Speaking at a public meeting organised to protest against the sale of Plymouth CityBus, Cllr Tudor Evans said: "If your local councillors are Conservative, why not ask them for a meeting so they can explain to you why they want to sell it off?"

Cllr Brian Vincent, a Labour Councillor and a CityBus driver said: "There will only be one winner if they sell off Citybus and that will be the fat cats of commercial bus companies."

Luke Pollard, standing for Labour in South West Devon said: "In areas like Plympton and Plymstock we know that there is incredible anger at plans to sell CityBus. I am encouraging people to get in touch with their Tory councillor and tell them what they think about Cllr Pengelly's plans to sell CityBus. The people I speak to on the doorsteps are very clear about this - they don't want the Council to sell CityBus."
