28 February 2010 - Launch of Radio Plymouth

Plymouth is to get a new commercial radio station and it launches on 28 February 2010 at 10am. Radio Plymouth will serve the city broadcasting a diverse range of music and talk and has been seven years in the making. Last night, Linda Gilroy MP, attended the launch of the radio station at the Treasury in the city.

The radio station has been seven years in the making and Linda has been involved in lobbying for a new license for the city.

Linda Gilroy MP said: "I'm really pleased that Plymouth has a new radio station. As a city we have long needed another local station and I'm hopeful that Radio Plymouth will provide something new for the people of Plymouth."

Luke Pollard, Labour's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in SW Devon, said: "There was a real buzz at the launch event for Radio Plymouth last night and a real sense that this station will be a truly local radio station serving the particular needs of our city. I, for one, will be listening when Radio Plymouth starts broadcasting."

You can listen to the new station yourself at www.radioplymouth.com or on 106.7FM.
