Luke slams Tory position on Citybus

3 June 2009

Labour's Luke Pollard has slammed Tory plans to privatise Citybus at a public meeting organised by The Herald. At the special European Election question time event Luke called for the Tories to come clean on Council plans to privatise Plymouth's publicly owned bus company, Citybus.

Luke said: "If the Tory Council did not plan to privatise Citybus why are they spending nearly a million pounds investigating how much the company is worth? This is the same council that cannot afford to fill the city's potholes and has to close public toilets because it is short of cash. It has enough money to investigate how much Citybus is worth though. The Council needs to know that the people of Plymouth oppose this sell off. The Tory Council have made a mistake in thinking they can sell Citybus without a fight."

What do you think about the Tory Council's plans to privatise Plymouth Citybus. Let us know and remember to vote Labour on 4 June in the European elections.
